Post Wonders of Ironkingdoms... where to draw the line?
Iron Kingdoms is an awesome setting and I'd like to exspand out and look at what wackey technology the setting is capible of.

So we got Giant steam powered golems, trains, etc...

But why not expand on it alittle....

We got weapons that act like a chain saw, so why not a Chainsaw?

Motorcycles don't seem like a huge leap from Warjacks...

And then theres flying machines.... heck, why not?

But where do you draw the line then?
Clearly there wouldn't be space flight or the internet.

I imagine that something like a flying machine or motorcycles would be very exspensive and very experimental.

Could you imagine Cygnar unleashing flying machines that drop exsplosives from the sky to try and turn the ties of war on Khador?

i could go on for days ... & the first time i read about the experimental flying machine that vinter ran away in/on ... it boggeled me that there was only 1 ?!?!
took me awhile and a few pages of the world guide to figure out .. "its hard to think about the skies when your focused on the ground"

they have been shooting & stomping on each other so long .. they have just focused on getting a bigger board with a bigger nail :P

have i though of Cygnar getting flying machines and dropping bombs on Khador ... I do now!!! ... i usally dream about Cygnarian airships droping bombs on those across the river.

as for a steam cycle!!! i have been reading the RPG stuff looking for any referance to some type of rubber (or alternitive to such) ...cuz a steam cycle would be UrCaen of alot easyer than a comeplex warjack.

the only problem with "new technology" in the IK is however easy it woud be to build ... the concept has to come from somewhere, be imagined up by someone skilled enough or infuencial enough to get it done.

The biggest problem with steam cycles and airships is that the Steam Powered engine is the least effective power plant when you consider power to weight ratio ... too heavy to be put in airships and too big to power a motorcycle. Trains are about the best use because they don't need to accellerate quickly, can carry their own water and coal and they can just add more engines to lessen the load!

On the other hand it's a fantasy world with fantastic creatures and magic so who cares but once you open that box ... it's hard to not "engineer" your way right out of the middle ages and land in the industrial revolution!

If you add too much, I believe that you will loose the "Steam Punk" feel that the game has. Magic Cortex's and gunpowder ... I'd keep the rest Fantasy!

On a side note I once made a spell for a Cleric I was running, that would animate Mannequin (much like Animate Dead but without the bodies) So I made a couple of Manequins for myself and then made a manequin that was specificaly for making Manequins ... then I had a Mannequin assembly line pumping out mannequins ... they could work your forge all day, unload ships without stealing or tiring, Deliver notes or small items between persons or business's, run saw mills, crush grapes and the list goes on! My GM jplayed it out for a while but it soon got out of hand and we ended the game as most menial tasks were taken over by the mannequins and our city became much like the Roman welfare state.

M@ ... 2 cents!
